What is OpenAthens?

Answer

OpenAthens (https://www.openathens.net/) is an identity and access management service that provides modern single sign-on (SSO) technology, offering easy online access to library resources. CMU Libraries offers OpenAthens and EZproxy to help connect users to library resources.

Publisher and platform websites often display an 'Institutional Sign-in' option, which uses OpenAthens technology to authorize you as a CMU affiliate, simply by entering your Andrew ID and password.

Many of the resource links on the Libraries' Databases, eResources, and Tools A-Z list are optimized for OpenAthens, and will prompt you to log in.

CMU's OpenAthens redirector proxy prefix is: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/cmu.edu?url=

This OpenAthens Link Generator tool will create links for CMU: https://go.openathens.net/generate/cmu.edu/81074538
