I clicked to download an article, but it asked me to pay. Why?

Answer

There are a few reasons why this might happen:

  • If accessing through our catalog/ discovery system, there could be a misconfiguration, or an issue with the subscription. Contact the eResources team for help.

  • If accessing through the open web, your affiliation with CMU may not be recognized. Try to access from our Databases, eResources, and Tools list, or search for the resource in the catalog. These access points are your best bets to ensure your CMU affiliation is recognized and access is granted.

  • eJournal subscriptions are often limited to specific coverage dates. If this is the case, you can submit a request through interlibrary loan. Contact the eResources team for help.
